Improved image quality The new DSP function gives variable detail enhancement with the addition of three user-selectable settings for contour frequency giving the optimum level of image detail (or edge) enhancement.
The DSP offers users a single-line read-out ¡°High Res Frame Mode¡±. This mode can be switched on to give an increased vertical resolution for still macro shots and can be used to give a cinematographic look and feel to video recordings.
Where widescreen is a requirement, the DSP also enables electronic picture squeeze. 16:9 pictures can be captured in standard definition without having to acquire an anamorphic lens adaptor.
Added features and extended durability The new camcorder is easily integrated with the optional DR-DV5000E hard disk recorder. Providing all of the advantages of tapeless acquisition, the unit allows the direct-to-edit (DTE) functionality from the files created by the camera. The DR-DV5000E has a disk capacity of 80GB and docks to the rear of the camera via the 52-pin interface connector and works in conjunction with the camera's CPU.
The rear panel incorporates the DV input select switch (for when docked with the 52-pin DR-DV5000E) and two XLR audio sockets (for added flexibility).
Enhanced recording performance The auto error correction system operates on a frame-by-frame basis to assure accurate image error compensation under any conditions. Accurate and consistent suppression of block noise and reliable, professional standard performance at all times is achieved. Newly designed video heads also improve recording performance.
To add to its appeal, a standard GY-DV5100E camcorder package, with 1.5¡± b/w viewfinder, includes a new Fujinon lens, model S17 x 6.6BRM and is list priced at just £4,950 (€7,420) plus VAT.
Nick Fletcher, Marketing Communication Manager at JVC Professional Europe Ltd comments, ¡°The addition of this new camcorder to the existing range of JVC camcorders clearly offers our customers three benefits: improved image quality, enhanced features and extended reliability. JVC has certainly reached a high point in picture performance with the GY-DV5100. As long as there¡¯s a demand for professional SD recordings, then the GY-DV5100 will be there to provide the ultimate in high resolution and affordable digital recording solutions.¡±
As part of the JVC Professional DV family the camcorder is compatible with the BR-DV6000E Professional DV editing recorder for fast, accurate tape-to-tape editing as well as the BR-DV3000E which can be either installed horizontally or vertically and is an archiving and basic NLE recorder.
